‘Social resistance must be built against teen gangs’

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam has said that social resistance must be built against all types of subcultures.

He made the remark while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on "Teen gang subculture and our responsibility" organized by Rapid Action Battalion-RAB at Rajuk Uttara Model College in Uttara on Wednesday morning.

Md Atiqul Islam said that today’s teenagers are tomorrow’s future. 

“They will run the state in the future, so it is the moral responsibility of everyone to show them the right path,” he said.

He said that every parent must pay attention to their children’s friend circle; the people they interact with. 

“They must know whether he goes to school regularly, studies properly, returns home on time, performs all the educational activities given by the educational institution properly, takes any kind of drugs or spends extra money anywhere. These things need to be taken care of,” he added. 

The DNCC mayor said that it is essential to take necessary steps including adequate corrective measures, counseling, proper attention of family and society to eradicate juvenile delinquency He said that all types of social media including Facebook should be monitored regularly.

He said that teenagers should be made interested in the practice of indigenous culture in educational institutions and their families.

The DNCC mayor said that in order to a developed country, the teenagers have to be established as good citizens by through proper education.

The seminar was chaired by RAB-1 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Momen.

Principal of Rajuk Uttara Model College Brigadier General Taef UlHaq was present during this time, along with others.
