Smuggler held with 10 kgs venison

Police detained a smuggler with 10 kg of deer meat from Shehalabunia area of Mongla municipality in Bagerhat aound 11:30 pm on Friday. 

The detainee was identified as Bachchu Hawladar, 40, a tenant of Delwar Hossain's house in Kumarkhali area of the municipality. Bachchu is the son of Md. Majnu Hawladar of Telikhali village in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat.

Mongla Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury said SI Mohammad Jahangir Hossain and his accomplices raided the Shehlabunia area on Friday night on the basis of secret information. 

At that time, they arrested Bachchu while smuggling 10 kg of deer meat from in front of Rampal Store in Shehalabunia. The bag found near Bachchu included deer meat as well as head and legs. 

SI Jahangir Hossain said Bachchu was one of the members of the Sundarbans' organized deer hunting ring. For a long time, he had been hunting deers and supplying deer meat at high prices to various areas in the vicinity besides Mongla.
