Slain jouno’s family submits memo to DC, SP demanding trial

Slain journalist Md. Ilias’s family and Bandar upazila press club members submitted a memorandum to Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police demanding steps for rapid investigation and trial on Tuesday. 

Narayanganj DC Mohammad Jasimuddin received the memorandum and gave assurance of taking speedy legal steps for journalist Ilias murder case trial. On behalf of Police Super Mohammad Zayedul Alam, Additional Police Super Mostafizur Rahman received the memorandum and assured them of quick investigation on the journalist murder case.

Earlier, on October 19 the slain journalist’s family members and four other organizations including Bandar upazila press club formed a human chain in front of Narayanganj press club on Bangabandhu road demanding rapid trial of journalist Ilias murder case.

On October 11 night journalist Md. Ilias of a local Bengali newspaper ‘Daily Bijoy' was hacked to death by criminals at Geodhara bazaar area of Bandar upazila in Narayanganj.

Following the incident, Ilias’s widow Julekha Begum had filed a murder case with Bandar police station mentioning 8 persons name. On the day of the incident police had arrested three accused, Tushar, Mina and Misir Ali. Of them the prime accused Tushar has given a confessional statement to the court.
