Six hospital staff in Santhia tested positive with COVID-19

A total of 13 people including six hospital staff in Pabna’s Santhia upazila have tested positive with the novel coronavirus. The victims are 3 nurses, a sacmo, a CFCP, one MT lab worker and a daughter of a hospital staff. The Upazila Nirbahi Officer has locked down the houses of the victims.

Dr Abdullah Al Mamun, RMO (Residential Medical Officer) of Santhia Health Complex, said blood samples from 43 people were collected from Santhia on May 10 and sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for testing. The sample report received on Tuesday afternoon identified seven corona positive patients. 

Meanwhile, on May 9, Santia Hospital’s EPI technician Abdul Kader was tested positive. After that blood samples of other staff of the hospital were collected and sent to Rajshahi. In the upazila, samples of 43 people suspected to be infected with corona virus were collected so far and the results of 7 people were positive and the rest were negative. 

Upon hearing the news, Upazila Nibarhi Officer SM Jamal Ahmed announced a lockdown on their houses. Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Jamal Ahmed said, “We have declared a lockdown on the houses of those infected with the corona virus.” 

Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Raihan Faisal, Upazila Health and PW Officer Fatema Tuj Jannat were present on the occasion. The upazila administration provided dry food to the families at that time. Mentioned, so far, the results of the sample test of 9 people of the upazila have come positive.
