Six businesses were fined Tk 9,500 under the National Consumer Rights Act during a mobile court drive in Ruhia of Thakurgaon on Sunday.
The fine was imposed as weight, quantity, selling price, production and expiry date etc of the product was not mentioned on the packaging. The fine amount was immediately collected.
Three-Star Hotel was fined Tk 1,500 and Mostafa Store Tk 1,000 in Sonahari Bazar under Ruhia Police Station, whereas Abu Electric was fined Tk 1,000, Feroze Store Tk 2,000, Ruhul Amin Electronics Tk 1,000 and Karatoya Traders Tk 3,000 in Ruhia Bazar.
The mobile court drive was conducted by Md. Sheikh Saadi, Assistant Director at National Consumer Rights Protection Department.
Thakurgaon District Chamber of Commerce representative Jahangir Saudagar, Ruhia Police Station ASI Mostafizur Rahman and others were present at the time.
