Six banned Ansar Al Islam members held

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in an overnight drive arrested six members of banned terrorists organisation Ansar Al Islam from different areas of the country.

Talking to Bangladesh Post on Thursday, RAB-4 Commanding Officer Md Mozammel Haque confirmed it.

He said the militants were arrested from Dhaka, Narayanganj, Mymensingh, Sirajganj and Rajshahi.

The boss of the RAB-4 said, “The arrested militants were identified as  Md Shakil Islam, 19, Md Ahiqur Rahman,17, Abu Obaidullah,17, Arafat Hossain Nayem,19 and Afsanur Rahman Rubel, 31. During the primary interrogation, they admitted that they were active members of the banned terrorists outfit.”

Huge numbers of Jhihadist publications,bags and mobile phones were also seized from their possessions.

According to the RAB officer, Shakil was salesman in a shop. Recently he joined in the Ansar Al Islam and was radicalizing youths and were conducting activities secretly. He is also a member of military wing of the militant organisation. RAB seized bomb making manual from his possession. 

Md Ashiqur was collecting funds and recruiting new members for the organisation. He along with Shakil was arrested from the capital Dhaka while trying to collect raw materials for making bombs, said RAB. Obaidullah is a college student. He was also involved in recruiting new members in guise of making new friendship. He was circulating extremist publications through his social media accounts. He was held from Narayanganj. 

Towkir is also a student but recently got involved in militancy. He was arrested from Mymensingh.  Nayeem who is student in a local college , was active militant. He was arrested from Sirajganj

Rubel is an electrician. But in guise of his profession, he was recruiting new members. He was arrested from Rajshahi.

Process was on to file case against the arrested militant.
