Sitakunda Guliyakhali declared a protected tourist area

The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism has declared 259.10 acres of Khas Khatian land in Guliyakhali beach area of Sitakunda in Chattogram as a protected tourist area.

This information was unveiled in a circular signed by the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Shyamoli Nabi on the order of the President on Monday.

According to the information, development of tourism industry in 259.10 acres of Khas Khatian No. 1 in Guliyakhali beach area of Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram district is being hampered or is likely to be further hampered in future due to unplanned construction or any other activities.  

In this context, for the purpose of planning, development and development of the tourism industry and services sector in Bangladesh and for the control of any other activities in tourism potential areas, this area has been declared as Tourism Protected Area under Section 4 of Bangladesh Tourism Protected Areas and Special Tourism Zones Act, 2010.
