Shyama Puja, Diwali festivals celebrated at CU

A discussion meeting and cultural program was held on Monday evening at the central temple premises of University North Campus on the initiative of Sanatan Dharma Parishad, University of Chittagong.  Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shireen Akhtar was present as the chief guest and CU Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Benu Kumar Dey was present as the special guest on the occasion of Shyama Puja and Diwali festival.

Sanatan Dharma Parishad President Professor Dr. Taapsee Ghosh Roy presided over the meeting.  Shriman Pandit Gadadhar Das Brahmachari was the religious discussant in it.  Sanatan Dharma Parishad General Secretary CU Teachers Association General Secretary Professor Dr. Sajeev Kumar Ghosh presided over the meeting.  Tapash Kumar Bhowmik, convenor of the celebration committee, delivered the welcome speech.  Sriman Shastranipun Bhakta Das Brahmachari recited from the Holy Gita at the beginning of the program.  CU Former Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Alauddin, Syndicate Member Prof. Dr. Mohammad Khairul Islam, Registrar (Acting) Prof. SM Monirul Hasan, College Inspector (Acting) Prof. Dr. Shyamal Ranjan Chakraborty, Proctor Dr. Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan and Assistant Proctors, Jamal  Professor Dr. Anjan Kumar Chowdhury, Director of Nazrul Islam Mathematics and Physical Science Research Center, Professor Dr. Alak Pail of Geography and Environment Department and Sanatani teachers, officers and students were present.

CU VC said that true religious practice keeps people away from superstitions and leads them to the path of light and goodness.  In the light of Diwali, all the evil forces of darkness will be left behind and will move forward on the path of light.
