Shonibar Bikel to be screened in Australia

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s latest film ‘Shonibar Bikel’ (Saturday Afternoon), the first part of the director’s identity trilogy series, has been invited to participate in the upcoming 66th Sydney Film Festival. The 12-day film festival will begin on June 5 in Sydney, Australia. 

‘Saturday Afternoon’ will be screened at Dendy Opera Quays Cinema 1 in East Circular Quay of Sydney in Australia on June 10 and June 13 during the festival.

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and his wife, Nusrat Imrose Tisha will participate in the festival.

‘Saturday Afternoon’, a Bangladesh-Germany joint production, has been produced by Abdul Aziz from Jaaz Multimedia and Farooki from Chabial.

The film casts Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Zahid Hasan, Mamunur Rashid, Nader Chowdhury, Intekhab Dinar, Iresh Zaker and Gousul Alam Shaon from Bangladesh, while Palestinian actor Eyad Hourani and Indian actor Parambrata Chatterjee are also among the other cast in the film.

From June 5 to 16, the 66th Sydney Film Festival offers will screen over 250 films from the four corners of the globe will be screened alongside a public program of free and ticketed talks and parties which will enrich the Festival experience. Over 150 local and international festival guests will attend the Festival, including directors, actors and industry professionals.

To note, the film ‘Shonibar Bikel’ recently participated in the 41st Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) in Moscow. The film won two independent jury awards at the festival.
