Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s ‘Shonibar Bike’ won the Kumamoto City Award at the Fukuoka International Film Festival in Japan. He himself gave this good news through social media.

The festival, which started on September 20 in Fukuoka, Japan, will end today.

According to Farooki, the award was given to ‘Shonibar Bikel’ based on audience choice. He did not forget to thank them for this.

The internationally acclaimed director said, “Thanks to Fukuoka for choosing 'Saturday Afternoon' out of so many great films. Now my only hope is that the film will be seen by the Bangladeshi audience.”

Although the film won awards in France, Russia, Moscow and Germany’s Munich film festivals, it didn’t get censor clearance. The film has been embroiled in controversy for more than a year and a half as it was made in the context of a militant attack on the Holey Artisan in Gulshan.

The film stars Iyad Hurani of Palestine, Parambrata Chattopadhyay of West Bengal, Zahid Hasan of Bangladesh, Nusrat Imroz Tisha, Mamunur Rashid, Iresh Jaker and many more.
