Sholakia Eid Jamaat not held this year

Due to the global Covid-19 epidemic, the Eid-ul-Fitr congregation was not held at the country's historic Eidgah Sholakia again. Earlier, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of Eidgah Committee Mohammad ShamimAlam confirmed that EidJamaat would not be held as per the instructions of the government.

Every year, more than three lakh devout Muslims from home and abroad gather for Eid at the 200-year-old Eidgah Maidan on the banks of Narsunda River on the outskirts of Kishoreganj town.At one time this Eidgah Maidan gained the fame of the largest Eid Jamaat in the country and even in the subcontinent.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shamim Alam said Eid congregations were held in 5,125 mosques in compliance with hygiene rules.

On Monday, April 26, the Ministry of Religion issued an urgent notice not to hold Eid-ul-Fitr congregations at Eidgahs or open spaces due to the Corona situation in the country.In the notification, 12 conditions were given for performing Eid prayers in compliance with the health rules.

Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha congregations were not held at this historic Eidgah Maidan last year due to the outbreak of Corona.
