Popular Bangladeshi rock band Shironamhin has released a new song titled Kotodur, paying tribute to the millions of expatriate workers who work tirelessly abroad to support their families and the country’s economy through remittances. The song was released last Thursday on the band’s official YouTube channel.

In a post on their Facebook page, the band wrote, “Our new song 'Kotodur' is for those whose lives have drifted far from home—like a sky lantern or a severed kite. They endure hardship day and night to support their families and send back remittances, playing a vital role in the country's economy. This song is for them.”

The lyrics, composition, and direction of the song were done by Ziaur Rahman, the frontman of Shironamhin. Known for their thoughtful and socially conscious music, the band took inspiration from the struggles, sacrifices, and dreams of Bangladeshi expatriate workers for this special track.

The music video of Kotodur was filmed in both Bangladesh and Thailand, featuring performances by Kazi Tanim Shahriar, Tasifa Tasu, Sheikh Swapna, Resh Rahman, Tanjib Ferdous, Sheikh Mohibul, Shahriar Rohan, and Ahsan Rabib. The visuals depict the loneliness, hardships, and emotional moments of workers living far from their homeland, while also celebrating their strength and sacrifices.

Fans have welcomed the song warmly, with many praising the band for highlighting the emotional side of expatriate life and their contribution to the country. Within a short time of its release, the song gained thousands of views on YouTube and received positive comments from listeners both at home and abroad.

Shironamhin continues to create music that not only entertains but also connects with the people’s stories and emotions.
