Title aspirants Sheikh Russel sank Bangladesh Police by 5-0 in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at the Bangbandhu National Stadium on Thursday. The Bengal Blues smashed the police side and cashed in all three points in their bag.
With this win, former champions SK Russel climbed up to the fourth position in the 13-team table with 20 points from 12 outings while Bangladesh Police earned 12 points from the same number of outings. It was SK Russel sixth win at the same time it was the sixth defeat of Bangladesh Police.
Nigerian midfielder Obi Moneke broke the deadlock within six minutes of the match, which was assisted by his team mates defender Habibur Rahman Nolok.
The score was double in 28 minutes through attacking midfielder Giancarlo. After eight minutes, Abdullah netted the third goal for the team. The first half ended with 3-0.
In the second half Abdullah became hero again. He netted the ball by beating the goalkeeper of Bangladesh Police. Then, Sk Russel’s Tajikistan defender Asrorov scored the final goal for the team to end the drubbing.
