The 57th birth anniversary of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was celebrated through discussion meetings, prayers, munajat and cake cutting ceremony at the initiative of Gopalganj District Awami League on Sunday.
On the occasion, at 6 pm in the evening Gopalganj District Awami Leagur and its affiliated organisations held a short programme at the Gopalganj AL office in compliance with the health rules. District Awami League General Secretary Mahabub Ali Khan presided over the function. District AL Senior Vice President Sheikh Mohammad Ruhul Amin, District AL Office Secretary Ilias Haque, District Juba League General Secretary MB Saif B Mollah, Gopalganj Journalists Union President Syed Muradul Islam and children were present at the time.
Earlier, district AL General Secretary Mahabub Ali Khan after reciting Fateha and Durood with all of them, prayed for the forgiveness of the souls of Bangabandhu and all the members of his family including Sheikh Russell.
At the time, they also prayed for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's health and long life as well as Participated in special prayers and for quick release of the nation from Corona virus.
