Sheikh Kamal was dedicated to nation-building as a modern sports and cultural organiser: DSCC Mayor

Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), said that Shaheed (Martyr) Sheikh Kamal was dedicated to nation building as a modern sports and cultural organizer. He was not attracted to position and power.

The DSCC mayor, said this while exchanging views with media after paying homage at the grave of Sheikh Kamal at the Banani Cemetery on Thursday morning on the 72nd birth anniversary of the martyr. Mayor Taposh, said, "Sheikh Kamal, despite being a worthy son of the father of the nation, dedicated himself to nation building. He was not attracted to any position or power. He dedicated himself to nation building as a cultural activist and a modern sports organizer."

"The stadium that Sheikh Kamal dreamed of will be one of the elements to make Bangladesh known to the outside world. Bangladesh triumphed over Australia in cricket recently. So, Sheikh Kamal is especially remembered during the time," said the DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Taposh.

The mayor further said that the life of Sheikh Kamal will be inspiring for the current generation as well as for the generations to come.

The DSCC mayor laid a wreath at the grave of Sheikh Kamal, paid homage to his memory on his 72nd birth anniversary and prayed for the forgiveness of his soul.

Among others, Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League Joint General Secretary Kazi Morshed Hossain Kamal and other senior officials of DSCC were present at the occasion.
