Sheikh Kamal SARRC Snooker Championship starts today

For the second time Dhaka Club Limited in association with Bangladesh Billiards and Snooker Federation is organising 2nd Sheikh Kamal SARRC Snooker Championship 2022 which will held from November 26 to December 1.

Dhaka Club president Khandkar Mashiuzzaman (Romel) in a press conference held at the club's Samson H Chowdhury on Thursday.

He said, "Since its inception, the club has striven to encourage hosting and participating in various sporting events each year. Dhaka club is well equipped to act as a venue for sports such as Tennis, squash, Billiards and snookers etc. This competition will be participated by the leading snooker players from Bangladesh and SAARC nations of India, Afghanistan, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka."

"In 2019, Dhaka Club organized the first ever SAARC Snooker Championship, which was named after the late Sheikh Kamal, eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It is a wonderful approach to have good communication among the SAARC countries through this international snooker tournament. I hope the tournament will be organized in future in a larger scale and its reputation will spread worldwide, turning it into one of the big tournaments in Asia," he added.

Dutch Bangla Bank Ltd and Shippers Council of Bangladesh are co-sponsors of the tournament. Home Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Khan as chief guest will formally inaugurate the programme on next Saturday. And the tournament will end with the prize distribution ceremony on next Thursday where State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russel will be present as the chief guest.

Members of the Board of Directors of Dhaka Club, members of Billiards Sub-Committee, Bangladesh, Billiards and Soccer Federation General Secretary Syed Mahbub, Tournament Director Asharul Islam and other members and officials and players of the participating countries of Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka were present.
