“In the post-independence period, the cultivable land in the country has decreased by 10 percent. Despite the scarcity of land in this small country, crop production has increased. We have achieved food self-sufficiency, and food are also being exported. This has been possible due to the hard work of the scientists of the Ministry of Agriculture,” he said.

The State Minister nister said that during the BNP rule, 20 farmers were killed in Bogura for fertilizer.

“Bangabandhu's daughter is subsidizing Tk 30,000 crore a year for the development of agriculture and farmers. It has been possible that she is the daughter of Bangabandhu. This is an effort to make the people of our country self-sufficient so that they do not starve. We have to increase agricultural production and export after becoming a middle-income country by 2030 and a developed country by 2041. And therefore, not a single piece of land can be left uncultivated,” he added.  Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Moniruzzaman presided over the function.  Md Harunur Rashid, Additional Director, of the Department of Agriculture Extension was present as special guest.
