While paying a courtesy call on Bangladesh Prime Minister in Washington, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said leadership like Sheikh Hasina is necessary to go ahead towards prosperity confronting all the hurdles.

leadership of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s worthy daughter Sheikh Hasina.
The IMF had recently approved a loan of 4.7 billion US dollar for Bangladesh. During her visit to Japan, the Bangladesh government has also got US$ 300 million from the country as budget support.
Sheikh Hasina is now on an official visit to the US mainly to attend the celebration of Bangladesh’s 50 years of partnership with the World Bank.

So, apart from IMF and Japan, she (Sheikh Hasina) also sought enhanced World Bank (WB) cooperation for Bangladesh’s smooth transition towards a
developing nation, subsequent graduation as upper-middle income country and implementation of its Delta Plan-2100.
On Monday the WB has agreed to provide a loan of 2.25 billion US dollars to Bangladesh for its development schemes on regional trade and connectivity, disaster preparedness and environmental management. The photo exhibition held on the World Bank premise has also shown the development story of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh vowed to work in unison with the global lender for brighter future.
Therefore, we hope the WB and IMF will continue to stay by our side to build a ‘Smart Bangladesh’.
The world leaders praise the dynamic leadership of Sheikh Hasina. We think Sheikh Hasina’s this visit will elevate the country's prestige. She went abroad to seek cooperation for the next budget and save the lives of those who are suffering from price hike of commodities.
