We extend our heartiest congratulations to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she has been honoured with the “SDG Progress Award” for Bangladesh’s steady course in responding to the universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure peace and prosperity for all. The award is a testimony to her endeavours in achieving the SDGs. The UN-sponsored Sustainable Development Solutions Network has conferred her the award which she has dedicated to her countrymen.

Sheikh Hasina was introduced at the event as the “jewel in the crown of the day” and she received appreciation for her leadership in spearheading the SDG campaign even during the global COVID-19 pandemic. We think it is a significant international acknowledgment of the country’s success in spearheading the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) after achievements in the fields of Millennium Development Goals (MDG).

Our country is now on the right track to attain the SDGs. We believe the government will continue working for every citizen, taking initiative to establish accountability and good governance in public service sector and uphold the rule of law at all levels of the national life. As the government is providing various facilities to the government officials and employees, we also believe it will not tolerate any corruption.

Corruption is a curse and it is the biggest obstacle to the national economy and development as well. So, corruption must be uprooted to speed up the activities of government officials and employees in order to keep up the ongoing development spree to transform Bangladesh into a developed and prosperous country by 2041.  Therefore, Bangladesh will be moving forward indomitably to materialise the dream of Bangabandhu.
