Bagha Sharif Boli from Manipur village in Homna Upazila, Cumilla, emerged victorious for the second time in the DC Saheb Boli game, a traditional wrestling competition held in Cox's Bazar.
On Saturday afternoon, at the Bir Shrestha Ruhul Amin Stadium, they defeated Shahed Hossain Kalu Boli from Hoanak Chankhola Para, Maheshkhali, in the finals of the 69th edition of the game. This win follows Bagha Sharif's recent triumph in the Jabbar Bali game held in Chattogram just 16 days prior.
Bagha Sharif dominated the qualifying rounds, defeating Maheshkhali's Shafi Boli in the first match to secure a spot in the finals. Meanwhile, Kalu Boli emerged victorious in his second-round match against Rashed Mal from Cumilla Sadar. In the final showdown, after a grueling 8 minutes, Bagha Sharif emerged triumphant over Kalu Boli. Other winners included Mohammad Hossain Boli from Maheshkhali, who secured the second place medal, and Mohammad Shafi Ullah Boli, also from Maheshkhali, who claimed the third place medal.
The prestigious prize distribution ceremony was graced by the chief guest, Mohammad Tofail Islam, the Chattogram Divisional Commissioner. The champions, Bagha Sharif Boli, were awarded a cash prize of 25,000 taka and a trophy. The runner-up, Kalu Boli, received 15,000 taka and a trophy. Cash prizes and trophies were also presented to the winners and runners-up in the second and third medal categories. It's interesting to note that in the 2023 edition of the DC Saheb Boli game, the competition ended in a tie. Cumilla's Bagha Sharif and Noor Mohammad from Cox's Bazar were declared joint champions as neither competitor could overpower the other.
