Shanto-Taskin peak performers in SL ODI series

Host Bangladesh beat visiting Sri Lanka in a three-match One Day International (ODI) series by 2-1. Najmul Hossain Shanto and his side won the third and final match by four wickets at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram, on Monday. 

Bangladesh scored 780 runs from 135 overs during the three-match series with an average of 5.77 runs per over. Bangladesh's highest score was 286 for seven in 50 overs, respectively.

Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and bowler Taskin Ahmed were the peak performers with bat and bowl respectively. Shanto scored 163 runs in three matches. He was unbeaten by 122 runs in the first outing. The skipper also managed 40 runs against the visiting side. But he failed to maintain his consistency in the last encounter, scoring only one run. His average is . 81.5 runs in the series. 

Pacer Taskin Ahmed took eight wickets, conceding 151 with an average of 18.87 runs per wicket. 

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka scored seven hundred seventy-seven runs from 156 overs in the series, for an average of 4.980 runs per over. Two Lankan batters hammered ton against the tigers. Right-hand top-order batter Pathum Nissanka Silva hit 114 runs in the second limited-over match on March 15, while his teammate right-hand batter Janith Liyanage was not out 101 in the third match at the same venue on the same day. He was the top scorer for Sri Lanka. He scored 176 runs in three matches, an average of 88 runs.  Meanwhile, three batters for the Islanders scored fifty or more in the series. Skipper Kusal Mendis and Janithy Liyanage scored 59 and 67 in the first match. Middle-order batter Charith Asalanka managed 91 runs in the second ODI.
