Shamim, Nasrullah elected FERB chairman, ED

Shamim Jahangir, Business Editor of the Daily Sun and Nasrullah Rishan, Special Correspondent of Bangla Vision have been elected chairman and executive director (ED) respectively of Forum for Energy Reporters, Bangladesh (FERB) for the next two years.

The election was held on Saturday amid festive mood after the biennial meeting of the organization at the Jatiya Press Club in the capital.

Other office-bearers of FERB are: Vice Chairman - Sherajul Islam Shiraj (Barta24.com),  Director (Development and Finance) - Lutfar Rahman Kakon (Daily Amader Somoy), Director (Research and Training) - Md Hasnain Imtiaz (Daily Samakal), Director (Data Bank) - Mahbub Rani (Daily Ittefaq), Director (Entertainment & Welfare) - Muzib Masud (Daily Jugantor), Executive Members - Azizur Rahman (Financial Express) and Ashraful Islam (Naya Diganta).

The election was conducted by Chief Election Commissioner ASM Bazlul Haque with two Commissioners Saiful Hasan Chowdhury, Director (Public Relations) of Bangladesh Power Development Board and Tariqul Islam Khan, Deputy General Manager (Public Relations) of Petrobangla

FERB is the only national organisation of reporters who cover energy sector in Bangladesh. Against a backdrop of growing need for information of energy sector, FERB was founded on November 27, 2000, by the Dhaka-based energy reporters working for different national dailies, news agencies and national and international print and electronic media.
