Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of the Bangladesh cricket team, has been elected as a member of the National Parliament for the first time from the Magura-1 constituency. He took his oath on Wednesday with the newly elected members of parliament of the Awami League. Later, Shakib also talked about fulfilling this new responsibility outside of cricket. He described representing the people for a long term as playing 'like a test match'.

After taking the oath as an MP, Shakib heaped praise on Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Tiger cricketer said, "Our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is number one in the field of politics. No one can take her place. If I can work by learning from her, I think that will be enough for me. At the same time, I will try my best to fulfill any responsibility.

Shakib told the journalists present, "If I get a chance to work for a long time, if there is a chance, I want to work like that." I will try to repay the way people love me. A long-term affair. You have to play like a test match. That's why I'm ready.

Being a successful multi-format player, Bangladesh’s cricketer-turned-politician Shakib Al Hasan is well known for his ability to switch on and off in between games in his international career so far.

Due to his involvement in several other projects apart from the game, he had to make this necessary adjustment while returning to competitive cricket following any break or vice versa, and it looks like he could make this transformation with ease as if it were his genes, if not anything else.
