Shakib may not be in Afghan Test

Bangladesh Ace all-rounder Shakib al Hasan, who ruled out of the last and final match of three match ODI series against Ireland due to a finger injury, the all-rounder will be out of action for six weeks.

Even in the only Test of the upcoming Afghanistan series at home, he is doubtful for that match too.

A source from the Bangladesh team management in Ireland confirmed this to Cricfrenzy and later Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) physio Bayjedul Islam confirmed it. Shakib injured his right finger while fielding in the second ODI at Chelmsford yesterday.

“Shakib hurt the tip of his right index finger while attempting a catch yesterday in the second ODI,” National Team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said.

“An X-ray today confirmed a fracture on the base of the index finger. Such injuries usually take around six weeks to heal. Unfortunately, this means he is not available for the last match against Ireland” he added.

The incident happened when he tried to grab a catch of George Dockrell. After that, however, Shakib scored 26 run with bat. But he is unable to play the last match of the series due to pain.

If he is out of action for 4 weeks, Shakib may not play in the only Test of the Afghanistan series as the Test will start in the second week of June. After Eid break, two teams will play ODI and T20 series.

The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the series as they pulled off the heist, chasing down a 320-run target for a three-wicket victory in the second game after the first match was washed out due to rain.
