The country’s best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan became the first Bangladeshi to take 150 wickets on home soil by getting the wicket of West Indies batsman Andrew McCarthy in the first ODI at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Mirpur.

Shakib also set another record as the left-arm spinner became the first Bangladeshi cricketer to bowl in 100 innings on home soil. Not only that, Shakib is standing in front of another milestone as he will touch the peak of 1000 wickets mountain of his career, if he gets 4 wickets on Wednesday.

This is Shakib’s first international match after overcoming the ban by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shakib is now the highest wicket taker at a particular venue, surpassing former Pakistan fast bowler Waqar Younis (117) in Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Before Waqar, his fellow teammate Wasim Akram took 122 wickets at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Now Shakib got 116 wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
