The Shaheed Minar under construction of Kohit Government Primary School in Tarash of Sirajganj has collapsed in rain water. It has lead to extreme anger is prevailing among the locals.
According to the Upazila Engineering Office, Messrs. Reza Construction was given the responsibility of the project at a cost of Tk. 250,000 with the funding of the ADB project of the Upazila Parishad.
According to local sources, the children were playing in the field last Thursday (June 9) afternoon when it started raining and they took up position on the school verandah.
At that time, the locals saw the Shaheed Minar located on the verandah of the school collapsing in the rain water.
In this regard, the local ward councilor Bachchu Mia said, without informing anyone, the contractor and the headmaster of the school are working in a low level. The Shaheed Minar collapsed in the rain due to not working with rods and other construction materials as required.
Lecturer Mozdar Hossain, president of the managing committee of the school, said, "The headmaster is starting the construction work of Shaheed Minar without any discussion with me."
In this regard, Upazila Deputy Assistant Engineer Ramzan Ali said, the contractor company did the work without informing me.
Talking to Messrs. Reza Construction Shahidul Islam, he said that the people of the area had demolished the Shaheed Minar. In this regard, Upazila Engineer Iftekharuzzaman said, necessary measures will be taken after inspecting the spot. With that, Shaheed Minar will be rebuilt.
