Sardar Shahadat Ali, additional general manager of Eastern Railway, has been made additional director general (operations) of Bangladesh Railway while Md Jahangir Hossain was made the general manager of the eastern region.
A notification signed by Deputy Secretary Md Abdur Rahim was issued on Sunday on the matter. Sardar Shahadat Ali confirmed the matter to the Bangladesh Post.
“I will try to follow the guidelines that will come when it comes to railway development and thank all concerned including Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan for trusting me with the new responsibility,” he said.
After the retirement of Nasir Uddin Ahmed, General Manager, Eastern Region, in June this year, Sardar Shahadat Ali was given the responsibility of Additional General Manager from the Ministry of Railways.
Soon after taking charge, Shahadat Ali came from the field to discuss against the irregularities and corruption in the eastern region.
Meanwhile, Md Jahangir Hossain, director of the railway construction project from Khulna to Mongla Port, has been given the responsibility of general manager of Eastern Railway.
