Shah Rukh receives honorary doctorate

It is a moment of absolute pride for India as Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan became the recipient of the Honorary Doctorate of Letters at La Trobe University for his Humanitarian work in front of thousands of his fans. SRK has been in Australia to attend the 10th edition of Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) as its chief guest.

Speaking about the same, Shah Rukh said in a statement issued by the university, "I'm proud to be conferred with a great university like La Trobe which has a long-standing relationship with Indian culture and impressive track record in advocating for women's equality.”

Elaborating more, he added, "I feel truly privileged to receive this honorary doctorate and I would like to sincerely thank La Trobe for choosing to recognise my achievements in such a humbling way.”

La Trobe University is the first Australian university to award Khan with an Honorary Degree, Doctor of Letters.

The actor also received an award for 'Excellence in Cinema' at the film festival. We came across a video where SRK can be seen grooving with kids on the stage. The actor went on stage to receive the award for where he danced with the actor on the song 'Apna Time Ayega'.

Meanwhile, on the work front, he was last seen in Aanand L Rai's 'Zero' which also starred Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in the lead. The actor is yet to annouce his next project.    SBS
