Renowned journalist Shafik Rehman is set to make a comeback to television with his iconic magazine show Lal Golap on Banglavision. After an eight-year hiatus, the show will return to screens today, much to the delight of its audience.
Lal Golap went off-air in 2016 when Rehman left the country. Now, with his return, Banglavision has decided to revive the program. Speaking about his comeback, the 90-year-old journalist expressed his excitement, saying, "The name Lal Golap has become inseparably tied to mine.
It’s a show that resonates with viewers both in Bangladesh and abroad. I am thrilled to bring it back after all these years."
Rehman revealed that two episodes have already been filmed, and the show will follow its familiar format with some fresh additions. Each episode will revolve around a specific theme and feature segments like excerpts from films, behind-the-scenes stories, and discussions with notable guests.
According to Tarek Akhand, head of programming at Banglavision, Lal Golap offers a unique format that sets it apart from conventional talk shows. "It’s a rich and varied experience that combines entertainment with insightful content," he said. "Shafik Rehman’s presence adds immense value to the program."
Produced by Tahmina Mukta, Lal Golap will air every Sunday at 11:30 pm. The program will blend information and entertainment, covering national and international events alongside reports on specific topics. Clips from films and interviews with prominent personalities will add to its appeal.
Rehman’s return to television comes amid shifting dynamics in the country’s media landscape, marking a significant moment for both the veteran journalist and his audience. Lal Golap aims to continue its tradition of delivering thoughtful and engaging content for families to enjoy together.
