Seven-day strict lockdown being imposed in Khulna

A seven-day strict lockdown will be imposed in Khulna district and metropolis from Tuesday (June 22) to curb the spread of coronavirus. At this time, no public transport will be able to enter or exit Khulna except vehicles carrying daily necessities, raw materials and medicines.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Khulna Mohammad Helal Hossain informed about the decision while addressing a meeting of the District and Metropolitan Committee on Coronavirus Prevention on Saturday noon in the conference room of Khulna Deputy Commissioner.

The Deputy Commi­ssioner further said that Khulna General Hospital has been converted into a 70-bed Corona Dedicated Hospital. It will launch today, Sunday. The number of sample tests for corona detection will be increased. The implementation of the restrictions will be ensured through a ward-based committee comprising public representatives in the city during the week-long strict restrictions. 

Cabinet Secretary (Coordination and Reforms) Mohammad Kamal Hossain and Khulna Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Ismail Hossain, Director of the Divisional Health Department Dr Rasheda Sultana and Civil Surgeon Dr Niaz Mohammad were present at the meeting online.

Rabiul Hasan, Vice President of Medical College Dr. Mehedi Newaz, Deputy Director of Local Government Department of Deputy Commissioner's Office Md. Iqbal Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Md. Yusuf Ali, General Secretary of Mahanagar Awami League MDA Babul Rana, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Kamal Hossain, President of Khulna Press Club SM Zahid Hossain, President of Journalists Union Munshi Md. Mahbub Alam Sohag, government officials, committee members and media persons were present.
