A seminar titled “Safety Net System for Poorest Project Awareness” was held at the upazila conference room of Ishwardi upazila in Pabna on Thursday. The seminar was arranged jointly by Ishwardi Upazila Administration and the Department of Social Service.
Ishwardi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Subir Kumar Das presided over the seminar. Social Service Officer Khandakar Masud Rana presented the main article on the topic of social security programme awareness at the beginning of the seminar. Upazila Chairman Md. Emdadul Haque Rana Sardar spoke in the seminar as the chief guest. Deputy Director of Pabna district Department of Social Service Md. Rashedul Kabir, Assistant Director of Pabna district Department of Social Service Golam Sarwar, Ishwardi Upazila Vice-Chairman Abdus Salam Khan and Pourashava Panel Mayor Abul Hashem attended the seminar as special guests and spoke in the meeting. Besides them, Assistant Social Service Officer Annie Barua, UP Chairman Emlak Hossain Babu, Acting UP chairman Shahidul Islam Boga and UP Secretary Swapna Khatun spoke in the seminar as well.
The speakers at the seminar spoke about the problem of allowance money hacking, registration of the beneficiaries not happening on time and other problems such as various irregularities and harassment related to receiving the allowance. They also provided correct information about how to receive allowance money and talked about the lack of campaigning regarding these matters.
Md. Rshedul Kabir, Deputy Director of Department of Social Service in Pabna district, said there are some problems that occur after they pay the allowance money through the mobile phone to the beneficiaries. Earlier, some hackers or family members used to withdraw the allowance money without letting the beneficiaries know whenever they got the chance to do so. However, this problem has reduced a lot. He gave advice about arranging meeting in every wards of the union where the field level officials of Department of Social Service will aware the beneficiaries who receives the allowance. Regarding the registration of the beneficiaries, he said those who have applied will get their registration on time.
