The 13th death anniversary of renowned playwright and theatre artiste ‘Natyacharya’ Selim Al Deen was observed on Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus on Thursday with a daylong programme. Department of Drama and Dramatics organized the programme.
In the morning, on behalf of JU vice-chancellor, Prof. Dr. Alamgir Kabir, director of JU TSC placed a floral wreath on Selim Al Deen’s grave at JU.
Later, the teachers and students of Drama and Dramatics department, theatre troupe Swapnodal, Bangladesh Gram Theater, Dhaka Theater and Arshinagar Theater placed floral wreaths on Al Deen's grave.
Prof. Afsar Uddin, Prof. Lutfor Rahman, Prof. Rashid Haroon, associate prof. and chairman of Drama and Dramatics department Dr. Soma Mumtaj, assistant professor Mohibur Rouf Shaibal were present at the event among others.
A seminar titled ‘Nirdeshok Selim Al Deen’ was held at the Drama and Dramatics department to commemorate the life and works of Selim Al Deen while Prof. Dr. Rashid Haroon of Drama and Dramatics department and playwright Nasir Uddin Yousuf Bachchu delivered keynote speeches. The seminar was chaired by Prof. Dr. Afsar Ahmed.
Besides, the department streamed Al Deen directed dramas on its Facebook page at noon.
