Selena Gomez likely to retire from music

In a recent appearance on the ‘Smartless’ podcast, global pop sensation Selena Gomez hinted at her potential retirement from the music industry after one more album.

The 31-year-old star, known for her multifaceted talents in acting and singing, revealed that she is eager to shift her focus towards a more settled lifestyle.

Reflecting on her early years in the industry, Gomez reminisced about the joy she found in music and touring, particularly during her time on the popular TV show "Wizards of Waverly Place." However, as she has matured, the artist expressed a desire for stability, stating, "The older I get, the more I’m kind of like, ‘I would like to find something to just settle on.'"

Gomez, who has released three albums since her solo debut in 

2013, with her latest being 

"Rare" in 2020, indicated that she believes there is one more album left in her before making the transition to focus on acting. She shared, “I do feel like I have one more album in me, but I would probably choose acting. I am gonna wanna chill because I’m tired.”

The singer's career has not been without challenges, including a hiatus from touring since her 2016 Revival tour due to mental health struggles related to her lupus diagnosis. In her Apple TV+ documentary, "My Mind and Me," Gomez's former assistant Theresa revealed a poignant moment when the artist expressed a desire not to be alive. Selena subsequently sought treatment for bipolar disorder and has since become a strong advocate for mental health awareness.

In 2022, Gomez spoke at a mental health forum at the White House, using her experiences to contribute to the on-going conversation around mental health. As she contemplates her future in the entertainment industry, Selena Gomez looks forward to a more settled chapter, aiming to focus on acting following the release of her anticipated final music album.
