In the 2025-26 fiscal year, under the agricultural incentive program for the Rabi season, free seeds of wheat, mustard, sunflower, lentils, winter onions, masoor (red lentils), khesari (grass peas), and peanuts, along with fertilizers, have been distributed among 6,240 small and marginal farmers in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna.
The distribution program was inaugurated on Monday (October 27) at 5 PM at the Upazila Agriculture Officer's office, in an event organized by the Ishwardi Department of Agricultural Extension.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Abdul Momin gave the welcome address and inaugurated the seed and fertilizer distribution program. Present at the event were Upazila Livestock Officer Aklima Khatun, Upazila Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officers Sujan Kumar Roy and Zahid Hasan, along with other agriculture department officials and beneficiary farmers.
According to the Department of Agricultural Extension, under the government's agricultural incentive program for the 2025-26 fiscal year, 6,240 small and marginal farmers from the municipality and seven unions of the upazila will receive seeds for wheat, mustard, sunflower, lentils, winter onions, masoor, khesari, and peanuts, along with DAP and MOP fertilizers.
Among the 6,240 farmers, 2,000 will receive wheat seeds, 3,100 will receive mustard seeds, 200 will receive winter onion seeds, 600 will receive masoor seeds, 150 will receive khesari seeds, 20 will receive lentil seeds, 20 will receive sunflower seeds, and 150 farmers will receive peanut seeds. Specifically, each of the 2,000 wheat farmers will get 20 kg of wheat seeds, each of the 3,100 mustard farmers will get 1 kg of mustard seeds, each of the 600 masoor farmers will get 5 kg of masoor seeds, each of the 150 khesari farmers will get 8 kg of khesari seeds, each of the 20 lentil farmers will get 2 kg of lentil seeds, each of the 20 sunflower farmers will get 1 kg of sunflower seeds, and each of the 150 peanut farmers will get 10 kg of peanut seeds. Additionally, along with the seeds, each farmer will receive 10 kg of DAP and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer.
Before the distribution began, Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Abdul Momin, in his speech, urged farmers not to misuse the government's free agricultural incentives. He requested that the seeds and fertilizers not be sold to others. If such misuse occurs, it will harm the country and its agriculture. He appealed to all beneficiary farmers to use the seeds and fertilizers properly and in a timely manner.
