Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jhenidah Saroj Kumar Nath distributed seeds and fertiliser free of cost in Kharip-1 season among 4,500 farmers of Jhenidah Sadar upazila at a function on Tuesday.
Upazila Nirbahi Office (UNO) Shammi Islam presided over the function at auditorium of Jhenidah Sadar Upazila Parishad. Chairman of Jhenidah Sadar Upazila Parishad Advocate Abdur Rashid, vice chairman (woman) Arati Datta, upazila agriculture officer Mofakkharul Islam, Krishak League leaders president Sajedul Islam Som and Asharful Alam, district controller of food Sheikh Anwarul Karim and UP chairman Masud Parvez Liton attended the event, among others. Agriculture extension officer Rokanuzzaman conducted the event.
A total of 4,500 farmers of 17 unions and a municipality have been receiving incentives under Kharip-12 season from the government this season.
Deputy commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath in his speech as chief guest recognized the contribution of the farmers. He said the farmers should feel comfort when the government of Sheikh Hasina has been providing various types of incentives and assistance to continue the flow of production in agriculture sectors considering importance of the sector for national development and its economy.
