Two people, including a schoolboy, were killed when a bus hit them on Barisal-Patuakhali highway at Shimultola under Nalchity Upazila in Jhalokati on Thursday morning.
The deceased were identified as Turjya Bhattacharjya, son of Milan Bhattacharjya of Bakerganj area, a tenth grader of Bhutto High School and Md. Akash, a van driver.
Md. Ataur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalchity Police Station, said that when Turjya was talking with van driver Akash in front of his school a speedy Patuakhali-bound bus knocked down them, leaving the duo dead on the spot.
Enraged school students and locals blocked the road for two hours demanding justice.
