A school teacher was killed when he was crushed under the wheel of a speedy truck from behind on Dhaka-Chapainawabganj highway at Haripur-Dargapara area under Paba upazila on Tuesday morning.
The dead teacher was identified as Abdul Halim, 32, son of Rbrat Ali and an Assistant Teacher of Kasba High School under Paba upazila. He was a resident of Dewan Berabari area of Mohanpur upazila sadar.
Shafiqul Islam, headmaster of Kasba High School, said that school teacher was coming to school through a motorbike in the morning when a speedy truck knocked him from behind crushing him under the wheels of the vehicle killing him on the spot. The driver of the truck managed to escape with the vehicle after the accident.
Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The family members of the deceased, however, refused to file any case and disagreed to hand over the dead body to police and the morgue of the hospital for autopsy. As a result, police handed over the dead body to the family members after legal procedures.
