The Supreme Court has extended the tenure of bails and other interim orders passed by the High Court till September 5 due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation in the country.
A notification of the Supreme Court administration signed by Registrar General of Supreme Court Md Ali Akbar confirmed the matter. The notification was released to the media on Saturday night. The notification says that the High Court’s orders that had granted bail to accused for specific periods or granted interim bail to accused on condition of their surrender to lower courts have been extended till September 5. The other HC interim orders that were passed for specific periods have also been extended.
Earlier, the bail of the accused in various cases and the effectiveness of the court’s interim order have been extended to six times amidst the Covid-19 situation.
