A public awareness meeting was held in Chitalmari Upazila on Wednesday, December 29, with the slogan 'Save the forest and wildlife for your own existence and future generations'.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Jannatul Afroz Swarna, who was the Chief Guest at the public awareness meeting, said the use of all bird-killing equipment including air guns, traps, nets and baits and killing birds are prohibited by law. People are endangering themselves by destroying nature, including wildlife. They're becoming infected with various diseases. If anyone violates the law after today's meeting, strict action will be taken against them, she said.
Chitalmari Sadar Union Parisad Chairman Alhaj Md Nizam Uddin Sheikh presided over the public awareness meeting on wildlife conservation. Tanmoy Acharya, Biodiversity and Forest Conservation Officer of Khulna Division also spoke as the Special Guest at the meeting held at the premises of the house of the heroic freedom fighter Ananta Bhakta.
Ekramul Haque Munshi, the Publisher and Editor of the fortnightly Chitalmarir Antorale, Forest Department Inspector Raju Ahmed, media workers and many more were present in the public awareness meeting.
