Sarawati Puja celebrated at IU

Saraswati Puja, a traditional religious festival of the Hindu community, was celebrated at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Tuesday amid much enthusiasm, festivity and religious favors.

The Puja was started through Pushpanjali in front of  the central temple of the Hindu community adjacent to the Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman auditorium on the campus in the morning with worshiping the goddess wisdom and knowledge, music, arts and science.

According to Hindu faith, goddess Saraswati represents power, creativity and inspiration and presents herself when the weather is pleasant and nature is in its full grandeur while the students celebrate it with religious sentiment.

IU vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam attended the Puja Archona programme as chief guest along with Proctor Prof Dr M Jahangir Hossain, former proctor Prof Dr Paresh Chandra Barman and Prof Dr Debashish Sharma, among others. Later, a discussion programme ‘Bani Archona’ was held at the gallery room of Rabindra-Nazrul Arts faculty building addressed by IU pro vice chancellor Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman as chief guest. 

Kanak Kanti Das, vice president of central Puja Udzapon committee was present here as a special guest while Nirmol Chatterzy, General Secretary of the wing delivered the speech as the keynote speaker and Prof Dr Arbinda Shah spoke out as a religious speaker here.

IU pro-vice chancellor Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman said the teachings of Goddess Swarasati are spread everywhere whereas the education of humanity is the greatest among them.Without education of humanity, no education becomes education, he added.

Associate Prof Dr Dhananjoy Kumar of the Management department presided over the programme and over 200 teachers, students, officials and locals attended the Bani Archona porgramme.
