Santhia canal reduces irrigation cost, farmers delighted

About 450 hectares of agricultural land of the Beel areas in Santhia upazila remained submerged in water every year when the irrigation canal was filled. More than four thousand farmers of   Rauti, Dhulauri, Chaubari, Bhul Bari suffered due to that. Recently, re-excavation of the drainage canal shows remarkable changes in the irrigation scenario. Local agriculturists are expecting planting crop on the land during the cultivation season.

There is water in the land. Now there is no problem. Water is being given to the canal. I can cultivate.
