Salahuddin blasts batting order inconsistency

Bangladesh's prominent coach Mohammad Salahuddin heavily criticized the team management for shuffling batters’ positions in the ongoing World Cup.

Salahuddin stated that the Bangladesh cricket team need to come out of the plan of shifting the batting order as it affects the batsmen both mentally and physically.

“The batting order needs to be fixed, and the mindset and role of the batsmen is not right. It's confusing when the same player is moved around the batting order inconsistently,” said Salahuddin during a live session with Cricfrenzy.

“It's important to allow the batsmen to settle down in their preferred positions. The mental aspect of the game is crucial, and we should adjust our strategy to suit our batters' strengths. While some players may say that they are confident playing in any position, it's difficult to perform at your best without consistency,” he said.

MehidyHasanMiraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto's batting positions were observed to be changed frequently across the three matches of the tournament. Salahuddin said there is no fixed position for batters in Shakib’s team and cited the example of team Fortune Barisal.

“We cannot tell the inside news. But I have understood from the last two BPL’s that when someone plays in Shakib's team, the batting order is not fixed. You can see that in the Barisal team, in the last season. In my opinion, the coach and captain have the most significant responsibility, and they should take the responsibility,” he said.

Salahuddin believes that the batting order should have been finalized by the team management before the start of the tournament.

“I think the batting order should have been settled before the tournament. But now the tournament has started. There is not much that can be done to rectify the situation. A messy batting order, a messy plan from all sides. I don't know what will happen in the future,” he added.
