A Russian national has died in Rajshahi due to excessive drinking. He died at CDM Hospital in Rajshahi around 5:30 pm on Thursday (August 27).
The deceased was identified as Sergey Smolnikov, 43. He worked as a general laborer at the Rooppur nuclear power plant in Ishwardi, Pabna.
CDM Hospital Director Twaki Chowdhury said he was brought from Ishwardi around 5:15 pm on Thursday and admitted to CDM Hospital. There was also a Russian doctor here then. But his physical condition deteriorated rapidly and he died.
He added that those who came with him told him that he had been drinking for the last four days. He did not eat any other food during this period. His body was sent to the morgue of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
