Russel’s birth anniv celebrated at IU

The authorities of Islamic University(IU) in Kushtia celebrated the 58th birth anniversary of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Tuesday on the campus.

 Marking the day, IU vice-chancellor Professor Shaikh Abdus Salam, pro-vice-chancellor Professor M Mahbubur Rahman, treasurer M Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya, Sheikh Russel hall provost Professor Debashish Sharma and acting registrar HM Ali Hasan placed floral wreath at Sheikh Russel mural on the campus around 9:30 am.

Later, a cake-cutting ceremony and a discussion meeting on Sheikh Russel was also held at the TV room of Sheikh Russel Hall of the university. 

IU Bangabandhu Parishad acting president Professor Jahangir Hossain, Bangabandhu Parishad secretary Mahbubul Arfin, transport administrator Professor Anowar Hossain, provost council chairman Professor Yeasmin Ara Sathi and student advisor Professor Shelina Nasrin and among others, were present on the occasion.

After the discussion, the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners of the debate and drawing competitions on the occasion of Sheikh Rasel day.
