The runway at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka will be closed for 3.5 hours daily starting from October 1 to October 14 due to scheduled maintenance work.
The airport authorities confirmed that all flight operations will be halted during the maintenance period.
Group Captain Md Kamrul Islam, Executive Director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, announced the runway closure.
He said that the runway will remain non-operational between 1:00 AM and 4:30 AM each day during this 14-day period. During these hours, no aircraft will be permitted to land or take off from the airport.
The maintenance work will include activities related to the Instrument Landing System (ILS) Category-II, which is critical for improving visibility and safety during landings in adverse weather conditions. Specific tasks include the maintenance of the runway’s centerline lights, touch-down zone lights, installation of stopways, and upgrading the lighting systems for runways 14 and 32.
“This is part of our routine operational procedures. The concerned airlines and other aviation authorities have already been notified through a Notice about the development work,” said Kamrul Islam.
Passengers scheduled to fly during this period are advised to recheck their flight schedules with the respective airlines to avoid any inconvenience. The airport authority is recommending that travelers confirm their updated flight timings in advance.
