While addressing the newly elected leaders of Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association at her official Ganabhaban residence in the capital Dhaka, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Awami League government has established rule of law in the country. Bangladesh witnessed impressive development due to the continuation of democracy for the last 14 and half years in the country, she added.

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in association with Jamaat-e-Islami, anti-liberation forces and different militant outfits once had unleashed a reign of terror across the country. They had introduced the culture of forced disappearance, killing and lawlessness by proclamation of the indemnity ordinance over the assassination of Bangabandhu with most of his family members.

All know after the brutal killing of Sheikh Mujib on August 15, 1975, the reign of murder was also established in Bangladesh through rehabilitation of killers. The tradition was followed by the murderers of Bangabandhu and later by Khandaker Mushtaq, Ziaur Rahman, Ershad and Khaleda Zia.

Elements that are constantly trying

 to obstruct the country’s development

must be dealt with an iron hand

They had come to power to do every sort of crime that includes carrying out murder, arson attacks, patronising the killers alongside making their own fortunes. They had destroyed all the democratic institutions of the country and snatched away people’s voting right.

Sheikh Hasina had no scope to seek justice and to get justice after the assassination of her father Bangabandhu. But Sheikh Hasina came back to the country and established the rule of law by prosecuting war criminals, Bangabandhu’s murderers and perpetrators of other major crimes in the country in line with the provisions of the Constitution.

The country has been freed from the situation of not getting justice as Awami League government believes in justice. Besides, countrymen now can understand that conspiracy is being intensified to topple Sheikh Hasina from power as the national election is approaching nearer.

Conspiracy was also hatched before the national polls in 2014 and 2018. The intriguers are becoming more active again to remove Sheikh Hasina from the power ahead of the national election.

Therefore, the elements that are constantly trying to obstruct the country’s development must be dealt with an iron hand. The government will have to be more cautious in order to establish the rule of law in the country. Only then justice for all sections of people will be ensured in our country.
