Tanvir Ahmed (24), a student of the 4th year of the Mechanical Engineering Dept of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), killed himself by hanging with a rope in room 355 of Shahid Lieutenant Selim Hall recently.
His body was unfastened and was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead. Tanvir Ahmed was a resident of Gangni upazila under Meherpur district.
According to Police and RUET sources, Tanvir Ahmed hanged himself with a rope in his room at noon. Some of his fellow students watched this and recovered him from there and rushed him to RMCH where the doctors declared him dead.
Professor Rabiul Awal, Director, Student Welfare of RUET, informed he heard about suicide of Tanvir and the relatives of Tanvir arrived in Rajshahi.
He further informed, Tanvir was a very smart student and it is completely unlikely that he would commit suicide. He (Tanvir) often consulted with him on various issues and his academic result is also satisfactory. The financial condition of his family is also well. It was not understandable why did he commit such work'.
Rafiqul Alam, Additional Deputy Commissioner( media) of RMP informed, students recovered Tanvir from the hanging state and took him to RMCH where the attending doctors declared him dead. His dead body has been kept at the morgue of RMCH and the actual reason for his death would be known after the autopsy.
