A legal notice has been sent to Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University (RU) Professor M Abdus Sobhan to postpone the activities of an investigation body formed against Crop Science and Technology Department Professor Dr. Md. Ali Asgar.
Advocate Noor-e-Kamaruzzaman Iran, on behalf of Professor Ali Asgar sent the legal notice to the vice-chancellor on Sunday.
The notice says, Professor Md. Khairul Islam of the same department made false and baseless allegations against Professor Ali Asgar so that he would not be appointed as the chairman of Crop Science and Technology department in spite of having all the qualifications according to 1973 Act. The university authority has formed a probe body against him without any complaint from students of the department.
Professor Ali Asgar filed a writ petition in the High Court’s virtual court for not getting appointed as the chairman of the department after even having all qualifications for the post. Currently, the writ petition is under trial. The notice was sent to the university authorities to postpone the activities of the probe body until disposal of the writ petition, according to the notice.
