Prothom Alo senior journalist Rozina Islam has assured that she will get justice, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said.
"Trust the government, the government is determined to do justice in this matter," the minister said.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the second phase of distribution of checks to journalists at Bangabandhu Hall of Chittagong Press Club on Wednesday.
The check distribution program organized by the Chattogram Union of Journalists (CUJ) was attended by 90 journalists from Chattogram with a grant of Tk 10,000 from the Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust established by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The minister said if you want to get information from any government department, you have to apply. There is a process for this. There is an information commission if any department does not want to give information. Must apply to Information Commission. Since the formation of the Information Commission in 2014, it has disposed of 1 lakh 19 thousand 831 applications.
He said he had talked to the health, law and home ministers. To ensure that Rozina Islam gets the right status in the police custody. The Home Minister also assured that she will get the right status. The government is looking into the matter so that Begum Rozina Islam gets justice. He said that even if the health ministry has any responsibility in this regard, they cannot avoid it.
Chattogram Journalists Union President Mohammad Ali presided and General Secretary M Shamsul Islam directed over the function. Managing Director of Bangladesh Journalist Welfare Trust Zafar Wazed was the special guest at the check distribution function.
