Rohit Sharma was on Thursday named captain of the Indian T20I side for the Bangladesh series as regular captain Virat Kohli was rested from the three-match affair starting from November 3.

The Indian selection committee led by M S K Prasad met Indian captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma at the Indian cricket Board headquarters in Mumbai on Thursday afternoon. There were no changes in the Test squad. Wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson, who hit a double century in a domestic one-day tournament recently, staged a comeback in the T20 side after 4 years and will replace Virat Kolhi.Kohli, who has been playing in all the formats of the game since October last year, was rested for the T20 series against Bangladesh keeping his workload in mind. Rohit Sharma has been fresh from his tremendous showing in the just-concluded Test series against South Africa.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya was not included for the Bangladesh series as he is yet to recover from a lower back surgery. Instead, all-rounder Shivam Dube earned his maiden call-up in the side. Wicket-keeper Risbah Pant has found a place in the team for the two Tests, which are part of the ICC’s World

Test Championship, as well as T20, making it clear that he will be the  no one keeper in both formats despite the presence of Samson and  K L Rahul.
